SEASON PASS POLICY

All NEW season passes must be purchased at the Washington Park District Administration Office located at 105 South Spruce Street during regular business hours.

Renewals may be purchased at the Administrative Office or at the Washington Park Pool during regular open swim hours. Renewals must have their Park District ID at time of purchase.

Each new family member registered on a season pass will be given a picture ID card that will allow them into the pool.  Although it is not required to have all family members present at the time of purchase, it is important to have them at the office to be photographed and issued an ID card before their first visit to the pool.

Park District ID CARDS

Park District ID Cards are required for entry into the pool by each family member.  A $5 fee will be charged for all replacement ID cards. The Park District ID should be kept so that it may be used for more than 1 season.

BABYSITTER PASS POLICY

Families wishing to pay for a pass for a babysitter may take advantage of the special babysitter pass. The pass costs $60 and will allow one individual entry into the pool as guardian to a family’s children. The individual must be old enough to act as guardian for the children and understand that is their role. The parent/guardian may list them on their form and have the babysitter follow up by completing the Babysitter Pool Pass Addition Form.

Weekday lessons consist of eight class periods. The first week will meet Monday - Friday.  During the second week, class will meet Monday - Wednesday with Thursday & Friday reserved for make-ups.

Program Objective: Provide youth with a positive, fun-filled opportunity to learn skills that can be enjoyed and improved on throughout their lifetime and provide them the knowledge to reduce the number of water/aquatic accidents.

SWIM LESSON WEATHER & CANCELLATION POLICY

During a session when the air temperature is cool or the weather condition is questionable, it is still possible that class will be held.  On days when the weather is questionable, you may call to hear a recorded message regarding classes at 444-9432.  The Washington Park District staff does its best to make a clear, safe decision; however, the weather is out of our control.

FLOATATION DEVICE POLICY

Only Coast Guard Approved personal floatation devices are allowed to be worn in the Washington Park Pool. Water wings, inflatable vests, rings and rafts are not allowed. Parents should actively supervise children whenever around water; even if lifeguards are present. Always stay within arm’s reach of young children.

The following are some of the reasons for this rule:

  • Many flotation devices are not designed or approved as lifesaving devices. However, flotation devices tend to give a false sense of security that someone cannot go underwater while wearing them. In many cases, this is not true.
  • Some flotation devices have a tendency to flip children upside-down.
  • Some flotation devices block the view of the Lifeguards where they cannot adequately supervise the swimmers.

If needed, we have Coast Guard Approved personal floatation devices available at the Cashier’s office in exchange for an ID.
