Park District to move to the old Washington Middle School

Park District to move to the old Washington Middle School With School District 52’s move to their new school on North Main St. in the fall of 2005, the facility at 105 South Spruce becomes an ideal home for the Washington Park District. The park district will be moving their administrative offices and programs to the old Washington Middle School. The residents of Washington will also benefit from the park district’s added space at their disposal with a tremendous increase in the amount of programs offered for individuals of all ages.

Burnidge Cassell and Associates (BCA) have been hired to conduct a facility master plan to determine the best reuse, renovation and improvements to accommodate the needs of the park district. As part of the process, a focus group of several local residents was formed to give their ideas and thoughts for increased programming and reuse of the facility. Similar sessions were held with staff and the board.

Some immediate programming ideas that the public will see in September may include dance and tumbling programs, arts & crafts, basketball and volleyball leagues and open gym, youth sports clinics as well as before and after school programs.

Residents should look forward to receiving their fall brochure which will include all their favorite programs, but much, much more.
