Special Needs Child?

The Washington Park District Joins the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association

Washington Park District residents can now take advantage of HISRA programming at the resident rate. This programming includes Special Olympics, social and skill building programs, day camps, fitness and other quality programs. In addition, parents of children with special needs can call HISRA for an inclusion assessment for integration into member park district programming. Upon reviewing your child’s needs, their professional staff will work to integrate participants, adapt activities and even provide additional staff so that your child can succeed in an inclusive setting. Inclusion services are provided to residents free of charge.

Have you seen other Park District programs that might be of interest to your child with special needs, but wondered if they could participate? Well, stop wondering!

Parents or guardians of children with learning disabilities, behavior disorders, ADHD, autism, mental retardation or other special needs can call HISRA and 691-1929. Upon reviewing you child's needs, our professional staff will work to integrate participants, adapt activities and even provide additional staff so that your child can succeed in an inclusive setting.

A cooperative network of four area park districts, HISRA has proudly provided quality recreation programs and inclusion services for 19 years. All programs and activities are supervised by trained staff who have received a thorough orientation including specifics on disabilities, leadership, safety, program adaptation, first aid and much more.

So give us a call - HISRA can get you involved!
