Swim Lessons/Swim Team

The Washington Park District swim lessons are divided into seven different levels.  At the start of each session children will be tested and placed in the appropriate level based on their swimming ability.  Weekday lessons consist of eight class periods. The first week will meet Monday - Friday.  During the second week, class will meet Monday - Wednesday with Thursday & Friday reserved for make-ups.

The goal of this program is to introduce children ages 3 - 5 years of age, who have had water experiences, an introduction to beginning swimming.  Children must be accompanied in the water by parent/guardian in the pool.

Provide a fun water experience for children ages 3 and under to get accustom to early water sensations. The child must be accompanied in the water by a parent/guardian.

Water Jets Swim Team

Competitive swimming on the Washington Water Jets will offer an opportunity for children to develop their skills as a swimmer in a competitive atmosphere.  Techniques will be improved in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle strokes.  This program is not intended to be a substitute for swim lessons.  The ability to independently swim the length of the pool is required.  Being part of a swim team fosters social development for the swimmer as well as the whole family.  Signups are typically held in April/early May.  Practices begin in early June and are typically held in the morning hours.  See our summer brochure for further information.
