Explore Our Youth Sports Programs

Join the fun with a variety of sports and activities offered by the Washington Park District! Whether your child is just starting or looking to improve their skills, we have something for everyone. Here's a quick overview of our offerings:

Tee Ball

  • Ages: 4-6 (Pre-K, not yet in kindergarten)
  • Details: Co-ed league focusing on sportsmanship and fundamental baseball/softball skills. Two age-specific leagues available.

Youth Softball

  • Divisions: Pinto (Kindergarten), Pixie (1st-3rd grade), Junior (4th & 5th grade), Intermediate (6th-8th grade)
  • Schedule: 12 games from June to July, practices start in May, games and/or practices Monday-Sunday post-1:00 PM.

Youth Baseball 

  • Divisions: Pinto (Kindergarten), Farm (1st & 2nd grade), Mustang (3rd & 4th grade), Bronco (5th & 6th grade), Pony (7th & 8th grade)
  • Schedule: 12 games, practices start in May, season runs June to July.

Travel Youth Baseball teams exist for 7U-14U baseball and 8U-14U for softball. Contact the Washington Park District for more information.  Interested in coaching?  Fill out this Travel Baseball Coach Application and return to the Park District office by July 7th.

Spring and Fall Youth Soccer
We offer U4-5, U6, U7-8, U9-10 and U10-12 coed divisions.  Look for the Spring Soccer information in our Winter Brochure and the Fall Soccer information in our Summer Brochure.

Little Hoopers - 

  • Divisions:  Kindergarten & First Grade
  • Schedule: Practice times and dates will be dependent on gym availability and will begin once the teams are finalized; typically practices will be scheduled in December.
  • The instructional league will encourage the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and learning the general rules of the game.
  • Please register early so teams can be determined as soon as possible. Volunteer coaches are also needed. Games will be on Saturdays running January - February. 

Youth Basketball

  • Leagues: For grades 2-8, including specific divisions for junior, junior varsity, and junior high levels. Season starts with practices in November and December, with games running through early March.

Travel Youth Basketball teams exist for boys 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and girls 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Contact the Washington Park District for more information.  If your child is interested in trying out, please fill out the Basketball Tryout Form.

Youth Lacrosse

  • Divisions: Boys: 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U; Girls: 10U, 14U
  • Details: Fast-paced, conference play against regional teams. Equipment rental available.

Kid Run - This fun run program meets one time per week at the Wenger Shelter and there will be separate distances for 1-18 year old children.

Volleyball Basics
Basic volleyball skills will be taught to 9-11 year old boys and girls.

Volley Tots
Introductory program for 6-8 year old boys and girls.

Youth Volleyball League

Summer volleyball league for grades 4, 5 & 6.  Teams will practice and have approximately 8 games through the course of the season.  League is dependant on finding volunteer coaches and gym space.

Pass, Dribble, Shoot
Coach Bob Facker leads this very popular instructional program for boys and girls age 7-9.

Half Pint Soccer and Basketball
This program is for 3-4 year old boys and girls where we will spend 3 weeks working on soccer and 3 on basketball.

Soccer Academy
This program will consist of drills and fun activities to promote skill development for 7-9 year old boys and girls.

Sports Mania
A program to introduce your 7-9 year old to multiple sports such as soccer, badminton, t-ball, and kickball.

Parent-Tot Sports Mania
Adults will participate with their 2-4 year old as they are introduced to multiple sports.

Tennis Skills Boot Camp
6 to 12 year old participants will be grouped together by age and ability in this instructional camp.

Tae Kwon Do
Class meets 3 times a week at the Washington Park District Building.  Ongoing sessions are billed on a monthly basis and you can join anytime.

Junior Golf Lessons
Held at Hillcrest in the summertime, these lessons meet one time per week for 4 weeks.  These instructional lessons are for 7 to 17 year olds.

Junior Golf League
This 10 week league will meet one time per week and is open to youth 7 to High School age.

Happy Feet Soccer

Throughout the year, we team up with Happy Feet Soccer to offer this introductory soccer program.  Divisions are held for 2-3 year olds, 3-4 year olds, and 5-6 year olds.  Some of the sessions are indoors and some are held outdoors.
