The Washington Youth Cheerleading Program is an excellent option for cheerleaders that are new to the sport or ones who have interest and want to keep with it! It is open to ages K-5th grade. No experience is needed to join. The program will focus on beginner level cheering by teaching motions, basic cheers, and basic jumps. This program is a fun way to introduce newcomers to the sport of cheerleading or for experienced cheerleaders to be able to cheer and be a part of a team! The Youth Cheer Program will coincide with the Youth Basketball program offered through Washington Park District. Our cheerleaders will cheer on the sidelines for the 2nd -5th grade youth basketball games. Practices will begin in December and games last through mid-March. All date ranges are tentative and will depend on games scheduled and volunteers we have for each cheer team. Practices will be on Sundays starting in December with games on Saturdays starting in January.

Each Participant will receive a t-shirt and pom poms. Each participant will need tennis shoes to participate in practices and games.

Volunteers: We are asking for volunteer coaches to help with our program. The primary job of the volunteer would be to accompany their team to games and ensure the kids stay on the sideline during the games. Coaches would also be responsible for sending information to their teams. No cheer experience is required for coaching!
