Meadow Valley Park Butterfly Pollinator Project

This project began over the summer of 2017 and a plan was put in place to develop roughly 3 acres of Meadow Valley Park (Legion Road) that could be designated specifically for the pollinating of Monarch Butterflies. From here came the volunteer work days scheduled for Saturday, September 9th and October 7th. Seeding will take place in November 2017 and the entire process will take several years for the full effect.

The following groups committed many hours of work in preparation and manual labor throughout the entire process and we are thankful to them in helping to make this a reality.

  • Central Illinois Monarch Task Force
  • Pheasants Forever
  • SAFE
  • Boy Scouts
  • Washington Park District
  • Many other community and school volunteers in the Washington area
