The Washington Park District is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

PART TIME EMPLOYMENT: 

Concessions Manager (1-2 position) Concessions_Manager_job_description.pdf
The concessions manager is responsible for all areas of outfitting and operating our concession stands. This includes but not limited to: hiring, training, scheduling staff, ordering supplies, preparing deposits, monitoring inventory, working during special events. Must have or be able to obtain Certified Food Manager license. Candidates must be willing to work some evenings, weekends, and some holidays as our special events dictate. Hours will be around 30 hours per week during the summer.

Tumbling Coordinator (1 position) Tumbling_Coordinator_job_description.pdf
The tumbling coordinator is responsible for all areas of the tumbling program.  This includes but not limited to: hiring, training, scheduling staff and teaching classes.  Tumbling or gymnastics experience is preferred.  Hours will be around 20 hours per week.

Summer Camp Counselor (15 positions available)
Under the direct supervision of the Day Camp coordinator, staff is responsible for supervising children and coordinating activities for the kids. Camp staff are part time hourly employees expected to work 15 -20 hours per week (as scheduled). General work hours take place Monday – Friday.

Washington Park Pool Lifeguard (15 positions available)
This position will be expected to work an average of 20+ hours per week and will need to take an American Red Cross certification course. We will offer this class with our own instructor right before the pool opens for the season. Classes will be offered May 30 and 31. Cost for this class will be approximately $70. Details for these classes will be given to you after you are hired for this position.

Washington Park Pool Assistant Manager (1 position available)
Under general supervision of the Pool Manager, the Assistant Pool Manager is responsible for managing the operation of the aquatic facility and the lifeguards/swim instructors. This person should have an aquatics background and also have great communication skills. This position is expected to work around 35-40 hours per week and it will include evening and weekend hours.

Washington Park Pool Cashier (2 positions available)
Employees will be asked to assist with the operations of our front office at the Washington Park Pool. Work hours are daytime, along with some evenings and weekends throughout the season (June-August).

Washington Park Pool Concessions (8 positions available)
Employees will be asked to assist with the operations of our concession stands at the Washington Park Pool. Work hours are daytime weekdays and weekends throughout the season (June-August).

Washington Park Athletic and Special Event Concessions (5+ positions available)
Employees will be asked to assist with the operations of our concession stands at the Washington Park athletic facilities. Work hours will primarily include evenings and weekends throughout the season (April-October).

Park Maintenance (3+ positions available)
The Parks Department maintenance employee’s tasks include, but are not limited to: improvement of grounds, facilities and buildings, construction projects, maintenance of operating equipment, general repairs and cleaning, and landscaping. The Parks Department employee is typically scheduled to work from 7:00am to 4:00pm of each workday, Monday through Friday with some nights and weekends required. This position includes a one-hour unpaid lunch. The employee must also be available to work Special Events.

Athletic Field Maintenance (3+ positions available)
The athletic field maintenance position tasks include: preparation of baseball and softball fields for games and tournaments. This position will be required to work weekdays, weeknights and some weekends depending on our field use schedule. This position may also be asked to assist with the setup of soccer and lacrosse fields and also be asked to assist in other park maintenance tasks.

Early Childhood Staff (2 positions)
Under the direction of the Early Childhood Program Coordinator, the Part Time Early Childhood Program Staff primary duty is to supervise and coordinate activities in our numerous early childhood programs. The hours for this position will range from 3 to 4 hours per day, approximately 2 to 3 days per week. Primary work hours will be morning and early afternoon hours. Candidates must be willing to work some holidays and evenings as programming dictates.

Tumbling Instructor (2 openings)
The Tumbling instructor is a part time position responsible for providing introductory tumbling and movement instruction. This person is expected to have a passion for working with kids and should be patient along with being a great communicator. This candidate should have a background in tumbling. Hours will be around 10 per week mostly occurring on weeknights. Some daytime shifts will be available in the Summer.

Sport Supervisor (2-3 openings)
The Sport Supervisor is a part time position responsible for assisting with the supervision of evening and weekend sporting events. Under the direction of the Athletic Coordinators, this person should be a self-starter and have good organization and communication skills. A background in sports is preferred, but not required. Some officiating responsibilities may occur throughout the week. Hours will be around 15-25 per week mostly occurring on weeknights and weekends. This job can extend into the fall and winter sports.

 

All Washington Park District Employees should:

  • Be reliable and on time for each scheduled shift
  • Be great communicators and knowledgeable about the park district
  • Be able to follow directions and be thorough
  • Have a great attitude and enjoy coming to work each day
  • Be 16 years old** or more (15-year olds can only be employed if they obtain a work permit)
  • Preference will be given to park maintenance applicants that are 18 year or older

**Certain 15-year-old candidates will be hired based on the individual candidate and Washington Park District staffing needs.
