Our Early Childhood programs are geared towards youth 18 months old – 5 years old. All our programs take place in the Washington Park District Building at 105 S. Spruce St. We typically offer each of these classes year round. Please see our current brochure for specific information.
Building Blocks
Building Blocks will help your child build a strong foundation for learning through play. Children age 3 will learn skills such as cognition, social skills, motor development and cooperative play during fun group instruction. Curriculum will include gross motor play, sensory activities, arts & crafts, music, social skills training as well as dramatic play activities.
Stepping Stones
Help your child make a smooth transition into his/her academic years by giving him/her the stepping stones for their future. This class for 3-5 year olds will promote developmental progress and Pre-Kindergarten readiness skills in an environment that encourages the student to discover and explore their surroundings.
Stay and Play
This class is a little extension for our Stepping Stones 3-5 year old group. Your child will bring a sack lunch which we’ll eat at noon. After lunch we’ll spend some time relaxing for those who need it and then finish our day being creative with arts and crafts and free-play. Your little ones will LOVE bringing their lunch box to school on Wednesdays!
Wee Play
Parents, are you looking for some free time? Drop your 18 month old-2 year old off for safe, structured developmentally appropriate play time. We will focus on all areas of development including gross and fine motor skills, social skills and cognition through music, art and supervised play. This is a great opportunity for children not yet ready for one of our longer playgroups. Feel at ease as you exercise or run errands while your youngsters have a great time!
Kids in the Kitchen
Come join us for measuring, mixing and creating delicious treats to eat. Each week we will don our chef’s hat and follow a different recipe. This class will meet upstairs in room #205. Please mention any food allergies during registration. This is a drop off program.
Tumble Tots
Tumble tots is designed for the toddler with a bundle of energy. Children along with Mom or Dad will participate in beginning tumbling skills, dance, and creative games focusing on improving motor and socialization skills. Don’t forget to bring a camera.
Romper Room
This open time is a great way for your little ones to burn off some energy while making new friends. There are scooters, hoops, mats, balls, and an obstacle course typically set up in our gym for this program. Parents must attend this open play time with their children.
